JOIN AND LEARN

I think a good way to start learning a new language is to hear it as much as possible.
There are several websites that offer you the opportunity to join and subscribe to interactive lessons online and to connect to other people all over the world. Two of these communities I have tested myself.

livemocha.com is the world’s largest online language learning community, offering free and paid online language courses in 35 languages to more than 9 million members from 195 countries around the world.
In a world hungry for new language skills, and increasing broadband Internet access and VOIP adoption, their mission is to provide a more accessible, affordable, and engaging way to learn a language. Livemocha allows people around the world to help each other with language learning, and provides our community with opportunities to learn and practice new languages together. You can learn by images and simple sentences. The best instruction begins when people teach and learn from each other. Learning becomes more interesting when friendly people from different parts of the world offer their help and perspective.

busuu.com an online community for learning languages. Instead of studying alone at home with your uninspiring grammar book, you can learn directly from native speakers around the world (you have the possibility to chat with other people, others can check your exercises and give suggestions to improve). In addition to learning directly from other members, you can use some interactive learning material completely free of charge. You learn by seeing images, words, and hearing audio materials adapted to your own level. And you can do some tests too. I think this is quite good for learning vocabulary. And I like their video too:

You can try both for free. For me these sites were useful for reviewing new words. I´m mostly a visual learner.
